I hated that cpap machine.  It was the most miserable thing I have ever experienced.  I will not wear it. I packed it up and I am returning it.  It was worse than I could have ever imagined.   I'm not usually this negative folks, but that thing will not come near me again.  UGH!  Does this mean I can't get the surgery? Lisa.....take a DEEP breath. Your anxiety has got you now CALM down. This cpap machine is a huge annoyance but why would you give it the power to let you STAY FAT? Don't do it. Make a goal of keeping it on tonight for ONE HOUR. Go to bed a little early as if you had a baby you had to tend to during the night. Make a simple goal of ONE HOUR. You hate that thing to begin with so everything about it is making you crazy. Do NOT call your clinic today and tell them you won't use it! Start in small pieces. Don't even THINK about using it all night for months. ONE HOUR! Now fix up that attitude girl! Love you. xx0

You just need to get used to it.  Try wearing it for a while, while you are awake and for short periods of time at night.  You;ll then be able to wear it longer and longer until one day you realize you can't sleep without it.  They are so hard to get used to, but you will.  You need to do this for your health, both physical and mental. Just ease into it... Debi

LJ Listen to Deb. I'm claustrophobic and that mask over my face was cause for ALOT of axiety in the beginning. Give yourself some time.. it was several weeks before i could wear it all through the night and the good sleep you get from not waking every few minutes will energize you and help you to push on and continue to use it. I don't need mine anymore after surgery... since about 60 lbs lost, you probably won't need it forever, this is just another step in the process to make it to the prize... how badly do you want it? It's sooo worth it!!! Deb's right.. try it for an hour... put it on while your watching TV to help you get used to it... you may even find yourself falling asleep.. go with it.  We're rooting for ya girl!

Lisa, Before you give up the ghost...remember there ARE different styles of masks out there.  Your medical supply company can switch you if it isn't fitting right.  ALSO - make sure your machine has enough ramp time set.  That is where it starts really slow at first, enough time to let you fall asleep before it goes full blast.  Some are set at 20 minutes...maybe you need longer.  That ear popping symptom sounds like maybe you don't have enough ramp time.  If you're claustrophobic...there are masks that just go in your nose and not over your whole face too. Also make sure the mask fits right and it doesn't leak any air.  Having air leak into your eyes will drive you nuts. Don't let this beat you.....if your medical supply company doesn't help like it should, notify the sleep center to find someone who can help you.  You had great advice from others too.  BABY STEPS!!!! You will not love this thing right away. Hang in there....just another bump in this bumpy road!!

I know that I hated my lil friend. I changed masks several times, I would tear it off in my sleep. But I would try every night. A little sleep was better then nothing. Now that I have had the surgery I dont need to use it anymore. Good Luck , and Best Wishes.

Good morning Lisa Joy.....You have gotten some good advice. You can make your own choice.  I wouldn't tell the clinic or anyone that you aren't using the machine. This is a step towards WLS. Most people don't need them after the surgery.  Good luck with your decision. Hugs, connie d
